Sardatur Holidays says
Boasting some of Italy’s best beaches, the south western region of Puglia is also home to some of Italy’s most romantic yet little-known hotels from grand five-star resorts to quaint hideaways.
The elegant five-star Borgo Egnazia Hotel Villa Golf Spa has already won an array of prestigious awards. Think chic décor in shades of white, cream and taupe and just 63 guest rooms plus a traditional ‘Borgo’ village with villas and townhouses with private swimming pools.
Facilities include a variety of restaurants and bars, outdoor and indoor pools, a spa plus a free shuttle service to the Beach Club and sandy beach where there is a beach bar and a range of water sports.
Enjoy fine dining at one gourmet restaurants, while the San Domenico Golf Club boasts an 18-hole championship course and magnificent sea views.
We especially love the Vair spa for the wonderful range of pampering treatments, steam bath, sauna, fitness centre, tepidarium, calidarium and frigidarium.
Masseria Torre Maizza is a more traditional and intimate option but no less stylish. There’s an Aveda spa, cookery school, private beach club and just 26 rooms. The fish restaurant here is particularly good.
The elegant Il Melograno dates back to the 16th century with a more rural setting. You can still hit the beach, however, thanks to the complimentary shuttle service.
Oozing charm with its traditional ‘truly’ (dry stone buildings with conical roofs), Masseria Cervarolo is a rural idyll with exceptional Pugliese cuisine.
With a hire car included in all our honeymoons, culture vultures can easily explore more of this wonderful area of Italy – Lecce’s unique Baroque architecture, the beautiful Trulli architecture of Alberobello (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Polignano, Cisternino and the white village of Ostuni for example.
