Scottish Highlands

Jane's verdict

Listed in Tatler’s Top 100 places, Alladale Wilderness Reserve offers majestic Highland scenery and your very own bothy – a basic shelter turned on its head at the high-spec Ghillie’s Rest Lodge. Think deer antler chandeliers and wood-burning stoves. Adrenalin junkies will love 4x4 safaris and stalking. Oh so royal and ancient.

Alladale Wilderness Reserve says

Imagine 23,000 acres of wilderness in the Highlands of Scotland. This is one of Europe’s most spectacular nature reserves. This is Alladale.

Hide yourselves away in Ghillie’s Rest Lodge, one of our three exclusive lodges, with all the luxuries of a top notch hotel and all the privacy of your own home from home.

With the hills, glens and lochs on your doorstep and a larder of delicious provisions provided by us, you will be left undisturbed to wake when you desire and prepare your own breakfast and lunch.

The lodge has been beautifully designed to the highest spec, not least the hand-made Scottish oak kitchen and latest in Sonos technology throughout. The views across Glen Alladale are simply breathtaking.

Have a lazy day in your lodge or explore the Reserve on a 4×4 safari to see the deer, moose and wild boar. Other activities include mountain biking, pony-trekking, ranger-guided walks, clay pigeon shooting or try your hand at fly-fishing for trout; you can even join our team on the hills for a day’s stalking.

A fine two-course dinner will be waiting for you in your lodge each evening. Just crack open a bottle of something delicious and warm up your meal when you’re hungry. From smoked salmon roulade to roast duck, dark chocolate pots to ‘tipsy laird’, the food is utterly delicious. Tell us your favourite dishes and Chef will do his very best to oblige.
