Best Spa Hotels for Honeymoons

By Jane Anderson, Editor of 101 Honeymoons

If you’re the type of couple who are into wellness and love to be massaged, stretched and soothed, a spa-based getaway could be the perfect honeymoon. There are so many incredible spas in resorts that are considered honeymoon destinations in their own right, that it’s a shame not to take advantage of the pampering on offer. You can base your entire honeymoon around spa offerings or treat yourselves to a few choice spa experiences. If you’re expecting a particularly stressful wedding, a spa honeymoon is a great choice to unwind after all the stress and high excitement.

Here are my top spa recommendations.

Gilpin Lake House proves you don’t have to travel far to find the perfect honeymoon spa. This Relais & Chateaux hideaway in the Lake District has just six spacious suites and a stunning lakefront Jetty Spa. A special Jetty Spa Trail for couples includes a private swim in the lakeside pool, iced fruit frappe in the salt snug, an invigorating salt scrub shower and a bespoke aromatherapy massage before snuggling up in heated throws in the Boat House. Top it all off with chilled Champagne in the open-air Japanese Ofura Tub with stunning lake views. Check out the special packages.

Forte Village Resort’s Thalasso & Spa Centre, Thalasso del Forte, is one of the most impressive in the Med, if not the world. The spa forms its own idyllic world on this vast self-contained resort. Simply trying out its six seawater pools enriched with minerals is a seriously impressive way to revive the body. Add to that yoga, sauna, Turkish bath, shiatsu, algae baths, mud treatments and highly qualified masseurs including a specialist in Ayurvedic medicine, and you have the perfect spa for couples interested in full-on wellness.

This tiny Italian island in the Bay of Naples has welcomed movie legends and millionaires. Its Capri Palace Hotel & Spa is the perfect treat for couples who want glamour with their spa pampering at its Capri Beauty Farm, famous for its Leg School.
