Stylish Croatia

Our verdict:

I’m in no doubt that Croatia should be on everyone’s honeymoon hot list. It’s one of those 'under the radar' destinations that’s got it all, and is fast becoming an affordable rival to St Tropez. i-escape has the inside track whether you want to discover historic cities such as Dubrovnik, join the cool set in Hvar or hide away on a tiny traffic-free island.

i-escape says

Croatia is rapidly becoming one of the most popular European hotspots amongst discerning couples who want to experience something a little different but with a hint of the Mediterranean vibe. We’ve found the best places and, specifically with honeymooners in mind, negotiated some great deals and special touches.

  • Handpicked hotels
  • Paradise islands
  • Speedboat transfers

A perfect choice for a honeymoon is this waterfront gem. Hotel Podstine has 51 rooms, some with a sea view. The water is gin-clear and it’s the perfect spot for chilling out. Take a boat ride to Hvar town when you fancy dining out in one of the region’s most stylish restaurants.

If you want to be in amongst the action in Hvar town itself, the contemporary Adriana Marina Hotel fits the bill. Head to the rooftop bar for knock-out cocktails with a view amongst the cool set.

If a no news, no shoes, no cars island escape is for you, the The Fisherman’s Houseis a unique spot with just six (basic) rooms, a pebbly beach and fantastic food. It’s not for every couple but if your idea of romance is a castaway island, check it out. Palmizana is a similarly remote spot but with a more boho feel.

Top or tail time on the beach with a stay in pretty Dubrovnik.
