Luxury Tenerife

Our verdict:

Visiting Tenerife, I was blown away by its beauty and exoticism. Namely black sand beaches, banana plantations, the world’s third tallest volcano, dolphins and migratory whales. It’s a world away from the package holiday image of old. Use the money you would have spent on a long haul flight to upgrade your stay to a luxury suite or villa with a private pool.

A luxury honeymoon doesn’t have to mean a long-haul flight. With year-round sunshine and flights from most of the UK’s regional airports, Tenerife is a great option and you may be surprised by its natural beauty and the exceptional quality of the hotels, hand-picked by our team.

  • Adult-only hotels
  • Whale-watching
  • Year-round sunshine

A lazy honeymoon relaxing in a fabulous hotel may be just what you’re looking for but there’s plenty to see and do in Tenerife. You can climb Mount Teide, the world’s third tallest volcano, wander the pretty streets of Santa Cruz, take a day trip to the tiny island of La Gomera, play golf and marvel at the towering Los Gigantes cliffs.

Tenerife is also Europe’s best place to see migratory whales and dolphins with year-round sightings and lots of boat trips to choose from.

Our top recommendations for a romantic stay include Red Level at Gran Melia Palacio de Isora in the south of the island. It’s an adults-only hideaway and we especially love the ocean front villas, each with a private pool.

The Ritz-Carlton Abama is simply exceptional, from its Michelin-starred cuisine to the private beach, a world-class spa, golf course and tennis academy. The quality of the accommodation is equally impressive – we particularly recommend the adults-only Tagor villas and suites.

The Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque has the feel of a village with winding paths and pools linking the various buildings. Choose from no fewer than nine top-draw restaurants and enjoy the sunset with a glass of champagne on the adults-only Terrazzo Moet. A superb spa, tennis courts, mountain biking, gym – even an observatory are amongst the activities available on site.
