Quirky retreat in Spain

Our verdict:

With an exotic romance you’d expect to have to fly long-haul to find, quirky DDG Retreat is a short hop to the hills of southern Spain. Stay in an intimate casa or fabulously exotic tented suite, complete with a private plunge pool and alfresco bed for sleeping under the stars. Venture out to explore Andalucía and the Costa del Sol if you can tear yourselves away.

DDG Retreat says

Perched above the Med in the hills close to the pretty pueblo blanco of Casares, our romantic retreat has been winning the hearts of honeymooners since we opened in 2011.

  • Idyllic location
  • Private plunge pools
  • Unique luxury tents

Nestling in our beautiful natural woodland, couples can savour the peace and tranquility of our romantic casa or two spectacular tented suites in total privacy. Each has been individually designed, inspired by our travels around the world.

All have lushly-planted terraces with spectacular views towards Gibraltar and North Africa – and our well-equipped boho-chic interiors offer the level of luxury you’d expect on your honeymoon but without the stuffiness of a formal hotel.

Casas Pino was designed with romance in mind. You can choose to sleep under the stars and enjoy a soak in a very private outdoor bath or cool down in your private plunge pool, with a bottle of Champagne chilling on the terrace ready for sundowners with amazing views.

Maharajah Tent and Royal Tent are so much more than tents. They certainly pack in the wow factor – we don’t think you’ll find anything else like them. Each is a tented suite offering total privacy, luxurious furnishings and seriously romantic outdoor baths and showers. Royal Tent guests will also be treated to a bottle of chilled Champagne to enjoy in the fabulous hot tub, right on the cliff edge – spectacular.

You will love exploring the wide choice of places to eat, all within a short drive – from barefoot on the beach and atmospheric village cafes to glamorous Michelin-starred restaurants.

DDG Retreat is under an hour’s drive east from Malaga airport – but it feels a million miles away from the Costa del Sol.

Our nightly rates are available on a room-only basis or you can upgrade to include breakfast daily, complimentary minibar and Nespresso coffee.

All guests can enjoy full use of the retreat’s facilities such as the fabulous infinity pool and tennis court. All three accommodation options have kitchenettes.
