Sugar & Loaf says

We can’t imagine a more romantic escape than one of our stylish boltholes for two, tucked away in beautiful Welsh countryside.

  • Beautiful locations
  • Romantic cottages
  • Stay in a luxury yurt

With honeymooners in mind, we have hand-picked a selection of bijou cottages for two, shepherd’s huts, hip hideaways and luxury yurts in such gorgeous spots as the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains, Snowdonia and the Wye Valley.

All our properties have self-catering facilities – some even have an outdoor hot tub – and we’ll also arm you with carefully-researched tips on local pubs, restaurants, walks and other attractions. Our local team in Wales can arrange a welcome pack of groceries if you wish, leaving you to just relax in your cosy hideaway.

A log fire, spa room and sauna await at the gorgeous Starlight Cottage, converted from a hayloft in the heart of the Black Mountains. Honeymooners are welcomed with a bottle of Champagne and there’s even maid service if you want it.

For the ultimate in privacy, it’s hard to beat Rowan Cottage, which dates back to the 16th Century. From the oak spiral staircase to the wood burning stove and Aga, the owners have brought it bang up to date to create a luxurious gem, surrounded by 55,000 acres of glorious rural landscapes with the Brecon & Monmouth Canal at the bottom of the hill.

The Dairy is an oak-beamed beauty in the Brecon Beacons. It’s in walking distance of a fabulous village pub, as is The Laundry, with levels of luxury more akin to a boutique hotel.

For something completely different, check out Butterfly Meadow Yurt, close to Hay-on-Wye, with its gorgeous roll-top bath and wood-fired pizza oven.

The Castle Shepherd Hut is a fabulous luxury bolthole set in a field by a stream in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. There’s a wood-burning stove, well-equipped kitchen and even a shower room.

You can book all our properties for a long weekend or by the week and some accept dogs.
