St Kitts

Our verdict:

Honeymooners will be bowled over by St Kitts’ natural beauty and creativity. Choose from a wide mix of hotels from plantation chic to an "all singing and dancing" resort. And when you’re not cocooned in your love-nest, take a rainforest hike, visit neighbouring Nevis and ‘lime’ the night away at a rustic beach bar.

British Airways Holidays says

If you’re looking for a Caribbean gem away from the busier and more obvious islands, St Kitts really fits the bill. This authentic, unspoiled and lush island has its own distinctive culture and a rich history, along with some superb hotels.

  • Authentic Caribbean
  • Exciting activities
  • Local restaurants

You’ll find secluded beaches with great snorkelling, sailing and scuba-diving, and the opportunity to watch turtles hatching. On land, you can try zip wiring, bird watching and get up close with nature on a rainforest hike. You can also take the ferry across to neighbouring Nevis.

There’s plenty to explore beyond the beach. Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is one of the best preserved historical forts in the Americas, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can learn about plantation life at Romney Manor (originally owned by the great great great grandfather of former American president Thomas Jefferson) and tour St Kitts on the island’s Scenic Railway.

Dining options include romantic restaurants such as the Spice Mill, Carambola and Royal Palm. You can “lime” the night away at a rustic beach bar such as Shiggidy Shack and Boozies, and enjoy a bite to eat at the chic waterfront Pavilion at Christophe Harbour.

We offer three very different hotel options in St Kitts.

Belle Mont Farm is set on a tropical fruit farm, and guests can stay either in the Great House or in cottage-style rooms with private plunge pools. This hideaway is seriously stylish with a stunning blend of state of the art design, colonial tradition and home-grown organic cuisine.

With its own casino, spa, eight restaurants, four pools, beaches, tennis courts and golf course, St Kitts Marriott Resort is a livelier option, with some nightlife on your doorstep too.

Recently renovated, the Ocean Terrace Inn has fantastic views over St Kitts’ capital, Basseterre. We love the boutique hotel style, the lagoon pool and the seafood restaurant here plus there’s a shuttle service to a nearby beach.

British Airways flies twice a week from Gatwick to St Kitts.
